The first edition of “Basque Yourself International Summer School,” supported by the Etxepare Institute and UPV/EHU will take place June 26-July 15 in Donostia and will feature first-rate professors: Bernardo Atxaga, Anthropologist William Douglass, Kepa Junkera….Classes will be taught in English and the cost is 1,800 Euros. Deadline to enroll is June 1 and there are still some scholarships available.
Donostia-San Sebastian. As part of the UPV/EHU summer courses, Basque Yourself International Summer School will provide a unique opportunity to delve into the Basque culture, while enjoying cultural opportunities and relaxing in Donostia in the middle of summer.
The course, created by the Etxepare Basque Institute and the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) is three weeks long. Students will enjoy instruction by top level professors in various aspects of Basque culture: writer Bernardo Atxaga, Anthropologist and American Euskalzale, William Douglass; musician, Kepa Junkera, historian and expert in the Basque Diaspora, Pedro Oiarzabal, and dantzari Oier Araolaza, art critic Peio Aguirre….Complete program is here.
The class also includes Basque language classes, and activities and visits to get acquainted with Euskal Herria and the possibility to also participate, free of charge, in other summer classes taught on the same dates. The course will be taught in English but participations will also be provided simultaneous translation.

Scholarships Available
The UPV/EHU is also providing 10 scholarships of 250 Euros each for students at universities associated with the UPV/EHU or who can prove that they are pursuing Basque studies at any university in the world. There are an additional 10 scholarships again for 250 Euros each that can be applied to housing costs. Complete scholarship information here.
