The invitation is for anyone who has been a dantzari at one time or another, including those who still consider themselves dantzaris despite not having put on their abarkas for a time.  The event is planned for June 10-11, 2017.  People attending should be ready to perform a dance at the festivities as well.  On another note, Denak Bat is also very satisfied with its Jaialdi 2017 that took place at “la Feliz” on the last weekend in January.

Mar del Plata, Argentina.   The Exdantzari Festival organized by the Denak Bat Basque Club in Mar del Plata has taken place for more than 30 years, all organized with the same goal “to get together and share memories, and moments that are healthy and filled with camaraderie,” according to the club.

This year’s event will be in June and organizers are sending the invitation early to allow clubs to get ready for their participation.  RSVPs are requested to better organize facilities, meals and lodging.  “We know that being a little older, and maybe a little heavier, there may be some disproportion in the compass, lines, sagging arms and a misstep, but Aupa!  Not to be discouraged, the challenge has been set,” encourages the Mar del Plata club.

Jaialdi 2017

In other events, Denak Bat celebrated its Jaialdi 2017 on January 28.  During the entire afternoon the club provided neighbors and tourists with a huge cultural show that included music, the choir, tamborrada and txalaparta, dance, with the participation of the Beti Alai dancers; food, and Euskera, among other cultural manifestations from Euskal Herria.

Organizers told EuskalKultura.com that they are very satisfied with the event and wanted to thank everyone involved, individuals and entities who collaborated to make it possible.  Specifically they wanted to thank local authorities, FEVA, and several work groups that took care of “organizing, set up, decorating, and making the various exhibits of culture, history, language, surname, architectural, photography, botanic, typical costumes, sports and store together.”

They also wanted to stress the collaboration of Eduardo Olivetto and his son Francisco, from the Laurak Bat Basque Club in Buenos Aries who were in charge of making and serving Basque paella, as well as Iñaki Aramayo Bilbao, form the Euzko Etxea Basque Club in La Plata, who served as the MC for the entire event.
