Next Thursday is the deadline to apply for Gaztemundu 2016 that will focus on Basque gastronomy this year.  Remember that when you apply, interested persons need to send along a video of them explaining a culinary proposal. There are 25 spots.  If you are interested, don’t wait and apply right away. 

Vitoria-Gasteiz.  The BOPV published on July 11 included the call for 25 spots for youth in the Basque communities around the world to participate in this year’s Gaztemundu that is dedicated to Basque gastronomy.

The call includes that this year’s edition will focus on culinary arts and the creation of dishes in Basque cuisine, “a choice made since there are Basque restaurants at many Basque clubs as well as gastronomic societies, and so it is necessary to deepen the knowledge and practice of this socio-cultural heritage that is greatly valued and represents the culinary art in dishes of Basque gastronomy.”

Interested persons need to be between the ages of 18-35 by January 1, 2016, belonging to a recognized Basque club for at least three years.  Eligible applicants will not have participated in a prior edition of Gaztemundu since 2003, and must prove their knowledge of gastronomy.  In order to do so, a video should be submitted along with the application with a culinary proposal.

The deadline to apply is August 11.
