Eibar, Gipuzkoa. After being closed during the past few months due to drastic cuts in institutional support, the Dantzan.com website is back. The project received support from the Basque Government, the Provincial Governments of Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa and thanks to this help has been able to return and get back to work.
But all are not good news according to Dantzan.com sources. This help is only enough to keep the website open for a few months. That is why the support campaign is ongoing, and the support group formed by dantzaris in the Basque Country and the Diaspora will continue to campaign to obtain the necessary funds so that the project can continue with the necessary stability.
Despite the conditions of their return, those in charge of Dantzan.com are very satisfied with the movement that has emerged in the world of Basque dance in favor of the project. When the site closed at the beginning of the year, a support group quickly formed, that obtained 1,600 signatures from dancers and dance groups. The group continues to work and in the next few weeks will present new initiatives.
The Dantzan.com Community
Meanwhile, the site returns with some new features, including the goal of promoting the participation of its users. “Dantzan.com wants to invite people to contribute, and so we have created a the Dantzan.com community. It is really easy to register, and once inside you can create events for the agenda, new items, publish your own videos, respond…,” they explained.
As part of the campaign in favor of Dantza.com, the group Commando Dantzan has published this vídeo online which involved groups from the Basque Country and the Diaspora (Ekin Dantzari Taldea from Buenos Aires and the Oinkari Basque Dancers from Boise, ID).
