Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina. The 2011 edition of the Festival of Collectivities of Comodoro Rivadavia, in the province of Chubut, took place from September 9-11th at the city’s fairgrounds. Like every other year, a large number of cultural communities got together at the festival whose aim was to share the most unique aspects of each.

Taking into account that gastronomy is one of the more important aspects of the festival; members of the Euskal Echea Association offered an interesting variety of typical dishes from the Basque Country. During the three days, visitors could enjoy piperrada, codfish Biscayan Style, pork pintxos with various sauces and apple pie, all accompanied by zurrakapote the most awaited drink by all.

But the cooks weren’t the only show that became a public attraction. The Haize Dantzariak group, comprised of 40 dancers, put on a wonderful show that earned much applause from the audience. The charm of the little ones along with the skill of the youth resulted in the venue being filled with the color and rhythm of the Basque dances.

It should be emphasized that Haize Dantzariak has become a landmark in the south of the country and they are often called upon from other cities to perform. This is why the dantzaris from Comodoro also participated in the Gala of Collectivities of the city of Puerto Deseado in the province of Santa Cruz on October 9th.

Finally, the directorship of the Euskal Echea also let EuskalKultura.com know that after months of work, the new hall that can be used for gatherings and parties, situated at the rear of the clubhouse, was completed and is now ready for use. Even though the date has not been set for the official inauguration, it was the site last weekend for a BBQ to celebrate the end of the construction. Everyone involved with the project was present, along with Francisco Patxi Pujana and Evelina Olarte, both of them born in the Basque Country.
