Medellin, Colombia. The Center for Basque Studies in Antioquia turned 15 this year, and will celebrate it with a program from December 19-21. Founded by Jon Ricaurte, the Center for Basque Studies in Antioquia is the sister program and antecedent to the Gure Mendietakoak Basque Club founded as well by Jon Ricaurte and Catalina Fernandez with headquarters in Caldas, Antioquia. Beginning today, and through Saturday, the following festivities will take place:
Wednesday, December 18th
- 6pm. Presentation of the book The Basques in Antioquia during the Bourbon Administration (1700-1810) by Jon Ricaurte, in the Auditorium of the Memory Pilot Public Library
- 7pm. Basque music concert by the Kordazero trio also in Auditorium of the Memory Pilot Public Library
- 7:3-pm. Exhibit, “Basques in Antioquia in the 18th Century" along with a Basque gastronomy exhibit in the hall of the Auditorium of the Memory Pilot Public Library
Thursday, December 19th
- At 6pm a International Day of Euskera celebration with Basque students in the extension buildings of the University of Antioquia
Friday, December 20th
- 11:00am, Christmas party and the “Olentzero” at the Vereda el 60 in Caldas
Saturday, December 21st
- 7pm. Christmas Dinner at the Celler del Duc Restaurnat in Caldas
