San Nicolas, Argentina. With the memory of the excellent experience last year in Necochea, Euskal Astea, Semana Vasca 2017 also organized another Mintzodromo, a place for Basque conversation practice, aimed at Basque speakers of all levels in the Diaspora, as well as a large number visiting from the Basque Country. This activity designed to strengthen Euskera started off Friday’s program, a day that also included a talk by Mikel Ezkerro.
At around 7pm the official inauguration of the festivities was held in the Mitre Plaza with an event that included the raising of the Argentine flag and the Ikurriña. Recitals that night were distinguished by their tribute to the Eresoinka Choir on the 80th anniversary of its creation, as well as by performances by Mikel Urdangarin, who was accompanied by musicians form the local Art School. Friday ran well into Saturday with dinner and a dance at the Belgrano Club.
