San Francisco, California, USA. Gure Euskal Etxea, the Basque Cultural Center in San Francisco launched a fundraising campaign at the end of the year to help alleviate the economic losses suffered due to the pandemic. Entitled, “Support the San Francisco Basque Cultural Center,” the initiative has raised $4,124 to date.
Campaign organizers highlight the fruitful work carried out by this non-profit Basque-American association for close to 40 years that it will celebrate next year, to preserve the Basque culture in the area and serve as a meeting point for Basques and their initiatives including festivals, celebrations, Basque and dance classes, film screenings, talks, concerts, entertainment and pilota matches, Mus and the Klika among many more.
“Unfortunately, the pandemic caused by COVID-19 has hit the Center hard,” they explain. “The principal source of revenue for our non-profit association is the restaurant that offers authentic Basque, French and Spanish cuisine, and its closure and the restrictions that we have suffered due to the pandemic have significantly disrupted its operations,” and this is why they are asking for donations to help the situation.
