Buenos Aires, Argentina. Christmas and end of year celebrations are now behind us, as well as the summer vacation. Now, at the end of the summer break, Basque institutions in South America are slowly getting back to their routine and are about ready for the 2014 school year. In this case, among others, Euskaltzaleak already held its first board of directors meeting.
According to participants in the meeting, some of the 2014 activities were decided on. Encouraged by the success in 2013, it was decided, for example, to hold another Triki-Poteo that will be the first event of the year, and that will be held on March 8th at 7:00pm. Like last year, participants will leave the clubhouse on Bernardo de Irigoyen 826 to tour some of the bars in the area of San Telmo, always accompanied by a trikitixa and tambourine. After completing the route, the group will gather again at the clubhouse where they will have pintxos, talos and drinks provided.
The Triki-Poteo is just the beginning of a year that is full of activities. In the words of Mariana Arla, “this will be a very special year for us as we celebrate our 70th anniversary. That is why activities will be developed as part of the commemorative program. We will participate, as we usually do, in the 'Gastronomic Patio,' organized by the city of Buenos Aires on March 15th and in the “Buenos Aires Celebrates” on May 11th. And as every year, Euskaltzaleak will also hold the typical festivities like that of Aberri Eguna, San Fermin and San Inazi...And of course will continue to hold events online that accompany the course like topaketas, workshops, talks and of course the clubs film series.”
ENE Saria – ENE Award
This special year has already begun in a special way for the Euskaltegi. In fact, in a ceremony organized especially for the ENE Award presentation --by Kinku Zinkunegi, on behalf of Eusko Ikaskuntza-- was held at the clubhouse.

In addition to the ceremony, taking advantage of the presence of an expert like Zinkunegi, coordinator of the Euskara Munduan program, Euskaltzaleak organized a talk on the current situation of Basque in relation to the Diaspora. After the presentation, guests, students and teachers from Euskaltzaleak shared homemade pintxos and drinks.

The ENE Prize is awarded every year by Eusko Ikaskuntza to an institution in the Diaspora who has stood out for its work in favor of the Basque language. The name of the winner is anounced every December 3rd coinciding with the International Day of Euskera (ENE). That is how it happened in 2013. The statue that accompanies the award was presented at the clubhouse on Bernardo de Irigoyen Street on January 27th.
