Bordeaux, France. Bordeaux celebrated their Music Day Festival on June 21. It's a tradition that takes place in most French cities, where local associations take to the streets to share their activities and culture. One of these was the Bordeaux Euskal Etxea, who organizes the festival annually in the Place des Basques (Basque plaza). The response from the people of Bordeaux was great once again, and club president, David Mugica, was very happy with the results: “Everyone agreed that it was a very nice evening.”
The show began in the afternoon with dance performances by Bildu Basque dancers from Pessac, accompanied by Etxeko Soinuak, the Basque club’s music section. Next the group Les Rugueux from Langon performed. “They aren’t Basque, but they are part of the rugby world so they like to party, sing, and learn Basque songs, plus they sing very well. The audience loved them,” Mugica explained.
Next it was Biltzarra’s turn, the club’s children’s dance group that also was a hit with the audience. The first part of the festival concluded with a concert by the group Etxekoak, a very good male choir that sings in four voices.

Next, the novelty of the festival took place with a concert by Holako, a rock group that came from Ainize-Monjolose in Lower Navarre. The concert was very exciting and attracted a lot of youth.
“With evenings like this we want people to get to know the Basque culture, a culture that continues to live, linked to its roots but with a modern spirit. We especially want the youth to become more familiar, so that they become more involved as the future of the euskal etxea,” the club president concluded.
