Boise, Idaho, USA. Boise San Inazio festivities begin today in the Idahoan capital city with Friends and Family Night, an evening for families and friends of Euzkaldunak Inc. Basque club. Tomorrow the day will include music, dance performances by Boiseko Gazteak (dancers from 3-14 years of age), Txantxangorriak (diatonic accordion players) and the Oinkari Basque Dancers, Boise’s veteran dance group founded in 1960. There will also be pilota matches in the club’s fronton.
In the afternoon a traditional mass will be celebrated at St John’s Cathedral gathering many folks from Boise wanting to see the dances performed by the local Onati Dantza Taldea. Following there will be a public dance that will last until dawn. On Sunday the day will be a much quieter one, with a picnic and games in the city park. Mexico City’s Basque club will gather members and friends on Saturday for a meal that will take place in the club’s fronton. Madrid’s Basque club has also organized a meal that will take place this year at the Sagardi restaurant on the second floor of the clubhouse.
Miami, Sydney, Santiago, Asunción...
Back to the US but this time to Florida, Miami’s Euskal Etxea will celebrate this Sunday July 29 with a series of activities that will include Singer Pierre Echeberri and local bertsolari Tomas 'Tomaxito' Urbistondo.
In Chile, the Euzko Etxea of Santiago has organized a complete day of activities for Sunday. It will begin at 11:00 and the highlight of the day will be the meal, comprised of scrambled eggs with txistorra and mushrooms, pork loin in salsa Bizkaiana and mojito sorbet as dessert. In Australia, the Gure Txoko Basque club will also enjoy a meal on Sunday at the Encasa restaurant at 14:00, just as last year.
Finally, the Euskal Etxea Jasone Basque club in Asuncion Paraguay has organized a special event, a talk entitled “Saint Ignatius of Loyola, a Universal Basque,” by Kosme Zubizarreta. This will take place on Tuesday July 31 at 19:00 in the parish of San Francisco (c/Herrera 3630), followed by a cocktail. Buenos Aires and many other places and Basque clubs will organize also their own celebrations, that you can check in our worldwide events section.
