On Sunday, November 2, at 2:30 p.m., Boise will host the 18th ‘Omenaldia’ Memorial Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Oinkari female dancers and the Biotzetik Basque Choir will be part of the ceremony, that will be followed by a potluck at the church hall. “Around 80 people will be remembered, but the list is not completed yet; we are still receiving calls and messages,” as Patty Miller, director of the Basque Museum, told EuskalKultura.com.
Boise, USA. The Omenaldia will remember both, members and friends of the Basque community that passed away in the last twelve months and, also, relatives of members of the community that died oustide the city. Sponsored by the Basque Museum and the Biotzetik Basque Choir –who will sing in Basque and English−, the mass will be celebrated by Father Jack Bentz, the new Jesuit priest in Boise. Bentz arrived in the capital city of Idaho this summer who also celebrated the San Inazio mass in July. Born and raised in Burns, Oregon Bentz went to school with Basques, “so he is familiar with the community,” stated Miller.
People interested in remembering a relative or a close person who has died since last September/October should contact Patty Miller at (208) 343-2671.
