Rosario, Argentina. Encouraged by the wonderful experience in 2013, when concerts were held in Rosario, Father Pascual Barturen will return to Argentina in the month of May, in hopes of touring various cities in the interior of the country and to contribute to the dissemination of the Basque Country giving recitals that will mainly include music by Basque Romantic composers
As explained to EuskalKultura.com by Luis Maria Barrendeguy, the Basque musician’s contact in Argentina, “Fr. Barturen just confirmed his trip and would like to visit any Basque clubs that are able to organize an event. That is why we are inviting all Basque clubs, knowing that some have already showed interest in having him. It is a unique opportunity and worth the effort to organize something.”
In regards to dates, Barturen will be in the country from May 28-June 15, and even if the tour hasn’t yet been confirmed, we can guarantee at least two presentations in Rosario. The repertoire will be fundamentally formed of songs by Basque romantic composers with no lack of classical pieces. In regards to criteria necessary, besides coordinating travel details and the stays, the Basque clubs must have a room with a pipe organ.
“In general, this instrument is found in churches or chapels; that is why we suggest that clubs try to work with a local church in their area,” Barrandeguy specifies. Anyone interested in joining in the tour should contact Luis Maria Barrandeguy via email: luismariabarrandeguy@barrandeguy.com.ar.
