Today is the last day of the 6th World Congress of Basque Communities Abroad being held since last Wednesday at the Montehermoso-Oihaneder Palace in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Yesterday, elections were held for three new Basque club representatives on the Advisory Council. The council may meet in December to discuss topics that were raised during the Congress.
Vitoria-Gasteiz. At every World Congress of Basque Communities, there are elections for Basque club representatives for the Lehendakari’s Advisory Council, and this one was no different. This year’s newly elected representatives are: Arantxa Anitua (president of Laurak Bat in Buenos Aires), Aitor Arruti (member of Barcelona’s Euskal Etxea) and Lorea Palacios (member of the Mexico City Euskal Etxea), along with Enrique Poittevin, President of FIVU, the Federation of Basque Institutions in Uruguay as alternate.
