The Chivilcoy Basque club let us know about their latest news, including information about a bilingual book project and an invitation to a literary contest, “Tree of Gernika.” They also let us know about their new Facebook address for anyone wishing to contact them via this social media.
Chivilcoy, Argentina. The Basque community in Chivilcoy, in the province of Buenos Aires, let us know about their news in the area of literature. On the one hand, in cooperation with SADE (Argentina Society of Writers), the Basque club invites everyone to participate in its 4th edition of the “Tree of Gernika” contest. The invitation is aimed at authors who are more than 18 years of age residing in Argentina, and both the theme and genre are free. Texts can be submitted until July 31 and the top three will be awarded. Contest rules here in Spanish.
Also as part of literary event, the club also let us know about another interesting project. As Nidia Ibañez, board member and chair of this area, explained to EuskalKultura.com, “The bilingual poetry book is being done in collaboration with writers from SADE. We will publish a text of each poet and along with it, on the facing page, its translation in Basque. The translation will be done by Basque teacher from Montevideo, Andrea Bella, and we hope to present it by the end of the year.”
