Reno, NV, USA. Over the last few weeks the Coronavirus crisis has motivated Bertsolaris and Basque creators in a special way in the US Basque Diaspora. A few days ago Begoña Echeverria, from Chino, California, presented an emotional song with lyrics dedicated to her aunt who passed away from COVID-19 in Baztan. Later, Betsolari and NABO Euskera Coordinator, Martin Goicoechea, sent his bertsos from Rock Springs, Wyoming. This also motivated Jexux Goñi who resided in Reno, Nevada to share these bertsos in his always unique style.
Nevertheless, these won’t be the last creative expressions that we will share since we will publish more bertsos in a few days, also motivated by the virus from a different place in the US.
Following are the bertsos by Jesus Goñi originally from Oronoz-Mugaire, Navarre, but who has lived in Reno since his youth. Thank you to Jesus, and also to NABO, Kate Camino and Lisa Corcostegui.
