The trip will run from October 25-November 14th and will cover various parts of Argentina with a tour with some unique ingredients, for example that will allow the Basque visitors to participate in an exchange with the indigenous culture and the Mbya-Guarani community in Corpus Christi, in the North West of the country thanks to Olga Leiciaga, president of the Basque club in this location.
Leiciaga has gotten both groups in touch with members of the Mbya-Guarani community planning to show their crafts. Others who will attend include Celeste itati Brizuela from the Chapá’I community, Antonio Morningo, Cacique from the Ychonguy community, a professor of Mbya that works at the local Tourism school; and Cacique German Acosta from the Tavá Mirí community. The meeting will take place on October 26th at the Basque club.
On a more touristic note, the group will also visit the splendid natural landscapes of Argentina like Iguazu, the ruins of San Ignacio Mission; Purmamarca and the Humahuaca gorge in Salta; the glaciers in El Calafate; the Beagle Channel and the End of the World Train in Ushuaia; they will go whale watching in Puerto Madryn and enjoy the benefits and contrasts of Buenos Aires, in addition to participating in Bahía Blanca in the Basque National Week 2019.
In this sense, they will travel to this coastal town in the southeast of the province of Buenos Aires to enjoy all the activities at this annual gathering of Basques in the Southern Cone, this year organized by the Union Vasca Basque Club in Bahia Blanca as part of its 120th anniversary festivities. In Bahia they will also coincide with members of the Oñati Chamber Choir, also from Gipuzkoa, They have already fixed the date for next Thursday for the two groups to have dinner together at the Euskal Etxea's restaurant, after attending the choir’s concert in the library.
