Santiago de Compostela, Galicia. The course, “Ibero-American Children’s Literature and Xuvenis Ibericas” was held on July 9 in Santiago de Compostela. In this edition, the course focused on award-winning authors and was attended by writer Mariasun Landa, winner of the National Prize for Children’s and Youth Literature and writers Maite Carranza and Rita-Taborda. The Vice-Rector of Euskera at the University of the Basque Country, Xabier Etxaniz was also present to talk about awards for Basque literature. The course was held with the support of the Etxepare Basque Institute.
The Center Ramon Piñeiro for Research in the Humanities in the Galician city hosted more than 40 international experts on July 8 for a seminar entitled, “Immigration/Emigration and Children and Youth Literature in the XXI Century.” This was also the site for the annual meeting of the research network, “Children’s and Youth Literature in the Iberian and Ibero-American Frameworks,” which meets annually with international university representatives. Participating in the seminar were Xabier Etxaniz, Mike Ayerbe (UPV professor) and Mari Jose Olaziregi, Director for the Promotion of Euskera at the Etxepare Institute.
