Basque songwriter Mikel Markez and Californian group Noka will begin a US tour tomorrow in Bakersfield

They have called it the "Nokez Tour", joining the names Markez and Noka, and likewise, they will mix their rich repertoires of Basque modern and traditional songs in their concerts.The tour kick-off will be tomorrow in Bakersfield, at the Basque Fefstival of the Kern County Basque Club. Then, they will head of to other cities in California, Nevada, Idaho and Oregon. The tour will finish in June 7th in Ontario.

Bakersfield, USA. Basque songwriter Mikel Markez will be tomorrow in Bakersfield, where he will begin an American Tour with California group Noka. Markez has been several times to the States, where he has played in plenty of Basque festivals and euskal etxeak. This time he has partenered up with Noka, a group of three Basque-Americans singers from Chino, California: Andrea Bidart, Begoña Echeverria and Cathy Petrissans. Noka sings traditional Basque songs, in Basque and a capella.

On the other hand, Mikel Markez is one of the most renowned Basque songwriters and has a musical career of 25 years. He has played many times for the Diaspora Basques and this is the fourth time he tours in the United States. The tour will feature Noka's traditional Basque songs and also Markez's songs fom his latest album "Indar bat dabil hor".
