Donostia-San Sebastian. Some attendees of the meeting that aimed to evaluate the year and reflect on future challenges attended in person while others attended virtually. The meeting took place on Friday at the Tabakalera and gathered lecturers who teach Basque language and culture at universities around the world, supported by the Etxepare Basque Institute. Along with them were the Minister of Culture and Linguistic Policy, Bingen Zupiria, and on behalf of the Etxepare Institute, Director Irene Larraza as well as the Director for the Promotion and Diffusion of Euskera, Garbiña Iztueta, along with the Coordinator of the Euskara Munduan Program, Kinku Zinkunegi.
This meeting has taken place annually since 2018, and this time included talks and group dynamics addressing topics such as efforts to digitize classes during this unique course affected by COVID-19, analysis of the difficulties and solutions that have been put forth in this new situation, according to the Institute.
After Zupiria and Director Larraza’s greeting the lecturers, Kinku Zinkunegi, Coordinator of the Euskara Munduan Program that supports Basque classes at Basque clubs around the world, talked about a platform to teach classes digitally. Etxepare Technician, Lorea Hernandez also lead group meetings among the participates to talk about the challenges they have faced and conquered this year, putting teams together with one in person attendee pairing up with someone attending online.
To end the meeting Etxepare Technician Eneko Agirre and Garbiñe Iztueta, Director for the Promotion and Diffusion of Euskera took the floor to provide a summary of the year and talk about future challenges.
