San Miguel, Buenos Aires. “With the goal of continuing the dissemination of various cultural aspects from Euskal Herria,” the Askatasunaren Bidea group in San Miguel invites the community to participate in the Touring Basque Film Series, coordinated by Carlos Gabilondo. The events will take place at the Public Library Domingo F. Sarmento of this city in the surrounding area of Buenos Aires City and admission is free and open to the public.
In regards to the first event of the year, the film chosen is Ocho apellidos vascos by Emilio Martinez Lazaro, to be shown tomorrow at 6:30pm. The film has yet to debut commercially in Argentina and so this is a unique opportunity to see it outside of some showings at Basque clubs.
The Library Sarmiento in San Miguel is on Sarmiento 1503 on the corner of Belgrano.
Euskera workshop
Another goal of the group in San Miguel is the diffusion of the Basque language and so this year, it will again offer a Euskera and Basque culture workshop open to the community. The get-togethers will be monthly on the last Friday of the month from 4-6pm, at the aforementioned library. Classes are coordinated by Mariana Fernandez Castelli and will begin on April 24.
Askatasunaren Bidea is also doing interesting work maintaining its blog where a large number of its collaborators write on important events, celebrations, customs and happenings in the Basque Country and its culture. You can also find information on the institution on its Facebook page.
