Poznan, Poland. Headed by lecturer Amaia Dones, students of Basque language and culture at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozana have delved into organizing another Basque festival: Basque Days or Dni Baskijkie. This year, the festival will run for three days, starting tomorrow morning through Friday. According to organizers, one of their goals is to take the culture to the streets, which has given new priority to collaborating with local associations and cultural centers.
The festival will begin tomorrow with a talk about the Basque language beginning at 10am by Amaia Dones and Anna Szychowska. In the afternoon, at 5pm, the documentary Gazta zati bat will be shown with Polish subtitles which were done by students there. After the film there will be a discussion with Amaia Dones, Katarzyna Mingos and Alfons Gregori.
Polish Bertsolaris
Day after tomorrow there will be various activities with the collaboration of the Dragon club: talks, discussions about culture and bertsolaritza, and the day will conclude with a Basque festival that will include Polish bertsolaris. On Friday, the event will close with various activities beginning with a pintxo contest at the Pika Pika bar, at 6pm. The audience will then be able to enjoy the pintxos created for the contest. Next the Karawana Opowiesci group will entertain with story tellers. The day and the festival will conclude with an 'Euskal jaia' or Basque festival organized with the collaboration of the Glosna club.
There will also be a Begana food tasting thanks to the Skad Bierzesz Bialko group, an online contest on Basque culture with SuperMemo publishers, an open Basque class and a workshop on Basque dance organized with the local Bal Folk Poznan group.
