This Friday and Saturday, the Gure Mendietakoak Basque club in Caldas (Antioquia) and CEVA (Center of Basque Studies of Antioquia), will be present at the literary festival Medellin Book Fair, where they will have their own stand. The Basque club will show the public books and publications about Basque culture, Basque literature, history, and as well as works by the Basque Diaspora. The stand will be manned by John Alejandro Ricaurte, historian and researcher and founding member of Gure Mendietakoak.
Medellin, Colombia. The Gure Mendietakoak Basque club in Caldas (Antioquia, Colombia) and CEVA will be present once again at the Medellin Book Fair with their own stand. The fair will take place this Friday and Saturday in the Carlos E. Restrepo neighborhood. This event gathers more than 30,000 people, with nearly 50 stands and various academic, cultural literary and musical activities. This year marks its 10th edition.
The Basque stand will be manned by expert in the Basque Diaspora, John Alejandro Ricuarte, and will include books and publications by Basques in Antioquia, as well as other places. In additions to books on Basque culture, history and language, they will also present other works on the Basque Diaspora itself.
Among the books to be shown, some are historical research done by Ricarte, like Basque Navarrese in Antioquia, 1890-1970, an approach to the history of immigrants, religious and exiled, and The Basques of Antioquia under the period of the Austrias 1513-1700.
