Rosario, Argentina. Organized by the Basque club and part of the institution’s agreement signed in July with the university, the conference took place at the Faculty of Humanities and Arts in Rosario.
The program began on October 24, with the theme “Rights of Self-Determination. Political Conflict in Euskal Herria” and was attended by Cesar Arrondo and Santiago Bereciartua as panelists and Elsa Caula as moderator. On the 25th, on the other hand, themes changed to “Questions about the Concepts of Stateless Nations. The International Conference of Peace in Donostia. Political News in Euskadi and Catalonia” and included a roundtable with Horacio Rios, Mario Gluck, Fernando Lizarbe and Angel Perella. This time the moderator was Vanina Broda. “The conference was followed by a large audience that participated in the debate following the presentations, showing the interest that had attracted them to the even,” explained the organizers to EuskalKultura.com.
Regarding the theme of the conference, it should be noted that in May the Municipal Counsel in Rosario joined the Declaration of Aiete. The proposal suggested that the NGO’s “Appeal of the 100 to Continue Living” and expresses the commitment of the city and its representatives – just as other individuals and entities at the international level, had done to unite with the proclamation in order to resolve the Basque conflict in a pacific manner through dialogue.
Basque Film Series
Among other things, the “Zazpi” has let us know about its second edition of the Film Series organized by and for the Euskal Etxea. The Series began successfully as expected. The first film took place on October 31 when Gernika under the Bombs by Luis Marias was shown.
The next showings will take place on November 14th and 28th with Lovers of the Arctic Circle and Cows both by Julio Medem. These feature-length films will be accompanied by a talk/debate coordinated by Film Professor and critic Emilio Bellon. Following the event there will be Basque gastronomic specialties available for a small price.
