As every July in Argentina in every corner of the country, the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence is celebrated. This year the 201th. Events and parades included various institutions and local organizations including the community organizations. The Basques, participated as well in the process of independence that took place in Tucuman in 1816, as well as being present now, waving the Argentine flag along with the Ikurriña.
Buenos Aires, Argentina. As we have been publishing on EuskalKultura.com, many Basque clubs in Argentina celebrated together San Fermin and the National Independence Day with joy and vigor (July 9th and 7th respectively). In other cases, the Basque clubs joined in their community events.
Following tradition, Independence Day parades take place in the centers of many cities and the pass in front of authorities led by armed forces, bands, students and professors from all school levels, local institutions and community associations, including the Basques. At the end of the events and to recover from the cold temperatures on July 9th, organizations invited everyone for hot chocolate and pastries.
