Every Monday of the month of June, the Basque language and culture lecturer from the Etxepare Basque Institute at the National University of La Plata will provide a film series with four Basque movies. The first event will take place on Monday the 6th, with Amama with the starring actress, Iraia Elias, in attendance. The free series will take place at the Pasaje Dardo Rocha Cultural Center, and is open to the public.
La Plata, Argentina. While the main role of the lecturer is to teach Basque language and culture in a university setting, it also includes organizing activities with the same goal in mind of “introducing the reality of the Basque Country, present and past, through art, language, as referents in Argentina...” That is how lectures, get-togethers, celebrations, like the International Day of Euskera, or Korrika, to name a few, have taken place throughout the school year.
This time, the invitation has to do with the sevsienth art, and the organization of “Cinevasc,” a Basque Film Series that the lectureship in La Plata has organized with the collaboration of the city of La Plata and the National University in La Plata (UNLP). “Cinevasc,” begins on Monday with the following program:
-June 6, Amama by Asier Altuna
-June 13, Gure sorlekuaren bila by Josu Martínez
-June 20, Pikadero by Ben Sharrock
-June 27, Asier eta Biok by Aitor and Amaia Merino
The films will be shown in the theater at the Pasaje Dardo Rocha Cultural Center on Calle 50 between 6 and 7, the event is free and open to the public.
