Neuquén, Argentina. The original, Young Cooks Workshop at the “Baskos de la Confluencia,” Basque club in the province of Neuquen took place from March until December with some 15 students between the ages of 7-12 years old. The course that was free of charge aims to instruct kids, beginning with Basque gastronomy, on aspects of the culture of Euskal Herria such as basic knowledge about the Basque Country, its language, songs, and music, as well as customs…
The project was run by Bianca Arndt de Mendiberri, a member of the local Basque club with much experience in gastronomy. Children came to each class with the materials needed and returned home with a dish made by their own hands.
To conclude the workshop, there was a day of recreation and idea and experience sharing that the kids enjoyed with their families. The activity’s success has encouraged the Basque club to do it again next 2020.
