Athletic Bilbao received a warm welcome on its arrival in Boise where the Mayor himself, Basque Dave Bieter, as well as other fans dressed in red and white, along with members of the Oinkari Basque dancers were anxiously awaiting their arrival. Today, the players will sign autographs at the Basque Center before their match against the Xolos of Tijuana tomorrow.
Boise, Idaho. Athletic is already in Boise where they were greeted by fans and members of the Boiseko Athletic Club Peña, accompanied by the Oinkari Basque Dancers. The team arrived with president, Josu Urrutia in the front. It was a very exciting moment for Athletic fans in Boise, a city with nearly 200,000 inhabitants with a large Basque presence.
Today, the team will begin with practice in the morning and then this afternoon from 3-4pm they will sign autographs for fans at the Basque Center and the headquarters of the Boiseko Athletic Club Peña, along with the event’s organizers. At the latter there will be a surprise for the players who will be able to relax and play FIFA’15, a well-known videogame.
Tomorrow the players, coached by Ernesto Valverde, will challenge the Xolos from Tijuana at Albertsons Stadium. The game will begin at 7pm, or 3am Basque Country time. The Basque community has been anxiously awaiting for this match, after months of hard work and effort, it will be a huge celebration. After the game, players and fans are invited to a typical Basque-American party at the Basque Center in the middle of downtown Boise, known as the Basque Block.
