The Lagun Onak Choral Association of Buenos Aires will return to the stage this month and will do it with two Basque music concerts. The first function will take place on Sunday the 21st in the “La Usina del Arte” Cultural Center in the La Boca neighborhood, while the second will take place on Thursday the 25th, in the chapel of the Euskal Echea School. Both presentations are part of the choir’s 75th Anniversary program and admission is free and open to the public.
Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Lagun Onak Choir will return to the stage at the “La Usina del Arte” cultural center in Buenos Aires, this time to present a repertoire of music from the Basque Country. The recital will also include dantzaris and traditional Basque instruments. The event will take place on Sunday the 21st at 11:30am in the main hall of the complex located at Agustin Caffarena 1 (and Pedro de Mendoza) in the La Boca neighborhood. Admission is free until the venue is full.
Again, on September 25th, the choir will participate in the annual series of organ concerts organized by the Euskal Echea College. On this occasion the group directed by Miguel Pesce, will share the stage with txistulari Jose Gutierrez. The recital will be at 19:30 in the chapel of the Euskal Echea College at Sarandi 735, again admission is free and open to the public.
75th Anniversary Program
Both presentations are part of the large program of events scheduled by the choir to celebrate its 75th anniversary. With a date that has yet to be determined, the choir will perform in December at the Law College. They will perform Argentine Legends by Juan Carlos Figueras and the Cantata Alexander Nevsky by Prokofiev.
That will conclude the schedule that began in April with a concert at the Decorative Museum, as part of the Gure Arropa Exhibit, and continued with Brahms’ Requiem, along with the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra, in the Colon Theater; the Solemn Mass by L. Vierne, at the Basilica of the Holy Sacrament; performances at the “Buenos Aires Celebrates the Basque Country,” the Mass in D Minor by W.A. Mozart, with the Academic Orchestra of the “Usina del Arte;” and a San Ignacio concert at the Laurak Bat Basque Club.

Lagun Onak also wants you to know that they are continuing their campaign to recruit new partners. Anyone wishing to participate can do so by paying an annual membership of 200 pesos.
