Mar del Plata, Argentina. Only a few hours left until the Denak Bat Basque Club in Mar del Plata that celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, launches the txupinazo to officially open Semana Nacional Vasca in Argentina 2018. The expectations of the Argentine Diaspora that accompany this huge annual festival are even higher this year with the first visit of Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu to Argentina who will also participate in the festivities.
All of this coincides with the celebration in Mar del Plata of the regional meeting of Euskal Etxeak in Central and South America that will also be attended by the Lehendakari just after his arrival to Mar del Plata this afternoon. This meeting’s conclusion will be followed by the official inauguration of Semana Vasca and also precedes FEVA’s meeting that will take place tomorrow.
This is why a large part of attendees are expected to arrive today. The SNV activities have already begun and have already provided many wonderful moments including the Evening of Dance on Wednesday with the participation of the groups “Akelarre” from Hendaia and the local “Beti Alai” dancers.
