Buenos Aires, Argentina. The International Day of Euskera celebrations will begin today and will continue through the end of December. It should be noted that the end of the year coincides with the end of the school year in the southern hemisphere. This is why a number of institutions also celebrate the end of the school year along with the International Day of Euskera before taking the well-deserved summer break. Many clubs have sent us their invitations to participate in these activities which we now share with all of our readers.

Saturday, December 1, 19:40. Presentation of Basque videos made by the students. Cycle Big Words: lecture dedicated to the Basque language by professors Alicia and Maria Carmen Itcea. Participatory closure with workshops to take place at the Basque club including: dance, mus, music and PE. Special program “The Hour of the Basques,” (FM El Vecinal – 104.9) dedicated to Basque. Lead by Martin Dubau.

Monday, December 3, 19:00, preparing the “Euskal garagardotegia” (Basque brewery). Songs, dances and tamborrada. Children, with their parent’s help, will present a photographic novel on the Conquest of Navarre. Certificates will be distributed after the show and the brewery will open. The informal dance competition will also take place “Fandangoing,” whose final wil take place at on December 8. The brewery’s motto will be: “To know Basque is to save money” since those who order their food and drink in Basque will not be charged as those who do so in another language. It should be mentioned that the bar will also have a big poster available where people can read how to place orders.

Saturday, December 8: Basque club Basque students will present the video “Nola esaten da euskaraz? (How do you say it in Basque), made by themselves. The screening will take place as part of a Basque club event.

Thursday, December 6, 20:00, screening of the documentary Gazta zati bat (A Piece of Cheese) with an introduction by teacher Maria del Carmen Rodriguez about the history of Euskera.
-Saturday, December 29, end of the 2012 school year. Basque students will show a video with scenes from the movie Kutsidazu bidea, Ixabel, (Show me the way Ixabel) acted out by them.
The radio program “The Basque Word” conducted by Laura Nobile and Mariana Domine is holding a contest “What is your favorite Basque word and why?” Prizes will be the CD Herriz Herri by Maral and a t-shirt commemorating the 90 anniversary of the Basque club. The drawing will take place on Wednesday, December 5.

Saturday, December 1, 20:00, there will be a talk at the Basque club “Euskera, the Oldest Language of Europe” by Idurre Lekuona, Basque language and culture professor at the National University of La Plata. The event is open to the public.

-Friday, November 30, 19:00, Zirt Zart! Basque dance and music throughthte streets of Cordoba. Meet at Peatonal, in front of the Cabildo.
-Saturday, December 1, 22:00, Romeria and open Basque dance class. Place: Proyecto Rasante, Pasaje Alameda 2141.
-Sunday, December 2, 17:00, Txiki eguna. Basque cultural day for children. Place: Tejas Park.
-Monday, December 3, Basque book drop. Twenty four books by Association members will be dropped in 24 plazas throughout the city. As stated in the invitation “We’ve done 24 books – 3 per province – with our hands, with our poets, to roam the world. We will release them so that many can read them and set them free again.”
