The name of the teams that will face off in this awaited soccer match will not be known until the “end of March or early April,” but everybody expects the European one to be one of the Basque teams of the Spanish 'La Liga'. Nevertheless, on the website, soccer aficionados will find updated information on the game, “as well as sponsorship and donation opportunities,” as Argia Beristain, spokesperson of the organizing group, told EuskalKultura.com.
Boise, ID. The user-friendly website welcomes visitors with a big countdown timer that resembles the ones usually seen at the Superbowl sites. Days, hours, minutes, seconds, until the kick off at 6:00 p.m., July 29, at the Albertsons Stadium at Boise State University.
The site provides information in English, Basque, and Spanish, about the game itself, the venue, the purpose of the project −create greater awareness for the Basque Studies Foundation and the Idaho Youth Soccer Association, while raising money for Basque Studies and soccer scholarships−, and on how to support the event. In fact, the organization is currently seeking donors and sponsors to “help cover the upfront expenses of the event.”
People interested in receiving updates on the email can also sign-up on the website, and will receive special promotions and ticket sales as soon as they are announced. This system will also allow the organizers foresee the turnout and adequate the program for a more enjoyable experience.
As explained by the organizers in a press-release, “the website will be updated on a continual basis with detailed team information, pre-sale ticket opportunities, where and when to purchase tickets, list of sponsors, additional events and promotions surrounding the game and general FAQs.”
One of the latest news is that, in order to meet FIFA International Friendly Regulations, “a sod soccer field will be installed over the blue football turf in Albertsons Stadium for the soccer game. After the event, the sod will be repurposed by the City of Boise’s Parks & Recreation for two soccer fields in the nearby Ann Morrison Park.”
