Donostia-San Sebastian. The singer from Behe-Nafarroa (Lower Navarre), Anne Etchegoyen, will host two of Argentina’s music icons, María Volonté and Mavi Díaz, next week. Together the three composers will put on a show that combines Basque music, tango, folk music from Argentina and rock.
The tour is called “Wapas Tour” in honor of the great Latin-American singers and composers who inspired these women to pick up their guitars and start to sing. Violeta Parra, Eladia Blázquez, Tita Merello, Mercedes Sosa, Chabuca Granda, Chavela Vargas, Consuelo Velázquez are some of the big names that will be honored during the show.
The first performance will take palce this Tuesday, October 4th in Bayonne at “Le caveau des Augustins” (9 rue des Augustins) at 21:00. On Thursday they will be in Bordeaux werhe they will sing at the fan club “ Nousté Gurea Da” (100 Boulevard Albert 1er) at 20:00. The last opportunity to see them live will be next Saturday the 8th of October in Burgos at the En-cuadra Arte Espacio (c/ Zapatería 14), at 21:00.
New voice and consolidated careers
Anne Etchegoyen is a young singer who is carving out her place in music little by little, thanks to her voice and her compositions. Her latest work “Adelante” (forward), marks a turning point in her career, which delves into the folk world. María Volonté, is presented as "one of the great Argentine voices, Latin Grammy-nominated and known for the exquisite musicality of her voice and her guitar.” Her latest CD, "Maria Volonté: Portrait" her eighth.
Finally, Mavi Díaz, a rock star in Argentina in the 80s who broke onto the scene with her own songs “Sonqoy,” “her recent album is revolutionizing the most listened-to radio stations, making folk the center of attention of all popular music.”
