To choose what logo to use for its anniversary festivities, the Anaitasuna Basque club in Maipu, in the province of Buenos Aires, asked members to submit their ideas to the club. After the deadline was over, there has been three works selected. Besides this news, the club has also let us know that everyone is ready to the two big events the Club will sponsor this year for the anniversary, on July 10th and October 8th.
Maipu, Argentina. The Anaitasuna Basque club in the town of Maipu will celebrate its 40th birthday this year and members of the club are organizing a program of activities for the merited anniversary. While they continue to hold their regular activities, they are getting ready for two larger events in July and October.
July 10, Anniversary Lunch
On July 10 there will be an Anniversary Lunch at the Anaitasuna Club, in conjunction with the San Fermin celebration. As Alicia Ithurrart told EuskalKultura.com. “For this first get together we have organized a way to invite all the former members of our beloved dance group Egunabar who were involved over the last 40 years. There has been a big number of dantzaris participating, as the group took part in all of the Semana Nacionales Vascas in Argentina since 1976. So via social media, and personally, and with the help of family members we are trying to reach out to everyone for the big event. We have no doubt that their feeling of belonging to and identifying with the club will remind them of the best memories of their adolescence and youth experiencing this Basque feeling.
In the same way, as part of the lunch, the directors of the dance group will also be recognized, along with muslaris that have represented Anaitasuna on the world stage, and those responsible for the innovative costumes (1976-1986) for being the correct replica of authentic traditional dress for the various Basque dances, and those who were in charge of stage set up for the Egunabar performances.
October 8, Big Anniversary Celebration and Logos
The next date that stands out is October 8, the day when the Big Anniversary Celebration will take place. The Egunabar group will perform with members of all ages, and will also introduce the Itzultzeko group formed by former dantzaris. During the festivities there will also be traditional dishes to enjoy, and a shop where artisan creations will be available for purchase. The event will also include live accordion music by Fabian Maya.
In regards to the selection of the logos, since it wasn’t a contest, the club has chosen three that will be included on stickers and calendars. “Each member will receive a magnet with the logos, and the dates of the special events,” Ithurrart said. The creators of the logos were Nicolas Fagoaga, Amaya Gestido and Laura Etcheverry, along with Alicia Ithurrart.
