The Anaitasuna Basque club in Maipu, in the Argentine Province of Buenos Aires, has turned 40 and to celebrate, has organized activities that will take place from May to December. Among the proposals to be carried out, members, friends, dantzaris and anyone else interested --may be you-- are invited to create a logo to represent the special anniversary. That can be your contribution, why not, we are the Basque diaspora. The deadline to submit artwork is March 30.
Maipu, Argentina. If the official date of foundation is May 9, all of the activities organized by the Maipu Euskal Etxea in 2016 are part of the 40th anniversary celebration. In fact, four decades of working for the Basque culture is enough of a reason to celebrate. Anniversary lunch, Mus Tournament, gastronomic activities and trips, are some of the proposals of the all year long celebration program that is directed to the entire community. In the words of the club’s president, Alicia Ithurrat this is dedicated “to all those who make up the Basque club, but especially to those who are currently part of it, but don’t frequent it as often, because we would like to especially touch these people.”
With this goal in mind, Anaitasuna invites “the entire community of Maipu, former dancers, members, current dantzaris, members of the board, members and anyone who was part of the club in any way, as well as our neighbours and the maipuans in general” to participate in designing a logo for tis 40th anniversary. "But not just them, also the rest of the Basque clubs and Basque communities in the world. We share a culture and have common feelings, we are the Basque diaspora, so we want people from anywhere in the world to take part and share our happiness, we eant you".
As Ithurrat told EuskalKultura.com, “it’s not a contest, so there are no rules or conditions. What we want is to generate an open proposal so that everyone can participate and feel a part of it. That is why for this anniversary we need everybody. It is more, there won’t be a winner. We will choose some and each one will be used to promote the various activities.”
You know, no rules, but the deadline to submit your artwork is March 30. These can be sent via email to: cvanaitasuna@hotmail.com or left in person at the clubhouse at Ramos Mejia 231. Designs should be in JPG format. Yes, go for it, this is a call for you too.
