Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the capital of Galicia the first edition of MICAtlantica, the Market of Atlantic Cultural Industries will begin on Saturday. The event gathers cultural producers from Argentina, Spain and Portugal and will also include the areas of design and crafts, music, publishing, performing arts, media arts and video games.
Over the four days public events will be distributed in various places like the MICAtlantica EXPO section where Galician production in the cultural industry will be shown along with workshops and talks. The MICAtlantica FORUM will be dedicated to talks and the MICAtlantica Show, will provide various artistic performances including presentations by the Galician Real Philharmonic, along with Argentineans Jose Luis Castiñeira of Dios and Christian Zarate and Marcelo and Hugo Dellamea and Chango Spasiuk to mention a few.
According to organizers the shows will take place in various locales in Santiago, among which are the Galician Auditorium, the Capital Hall, the SGAE Foundation and the Novagalicia Banco Auditorium. All performances will be open to the public and free of charge.
Etxepare Basque Institute at the MICAtlantica
Managed by the Secretary of Culture and the Basque Delegation in Argentina, the participation of the Etxepare Basque Institute, by its director Aizpea Goenaga will guarantee the presence of the Basque community at the event. Goenaga’s contribution to MICAtlantica will take place on Sunday the 24 at 2pm when she will present the goals and general guidelines of the Institute in regard to the diffusion and the promotion of the Basque language and culture around the world, followed by her moderating a panel entitled, “New Formats and Contents for New Television Platforms,” by Claudio Villarruel and Bernarda Llorente (Argentina, ON TV/360TV); Gonzalo Armendares (Argentina, Underground Productions); Dario Janeiro (Galicia, CINFO/R); and Carlos Carballo (Galicia, Voz Audiovisual).
It should be noted that the current director of the Etxepare Basque Institute, Aizpea Goenaga, combines her current position and dedication to the diffusion of the Basque culture and cultural creation in the world with a rich career in the world of theater, film and audiovisual productions that include important contributions as an actress, writer, director etc. in theater as well as film and TV.
