The exhibit “In the Footsteps of Euskera. The Basque Language and its Presence in Argentina,” created by the Delegation of Euskadi in Argentina and Mercosur, with the collaboration of HABE and FEVA, has been exhibited in various Basque club in the province of Buenos Aires. On its way to Macachin, where it will be inaugurated on Monday the 26th, it can be visited in the coming days at the Cultural Center in Coronel Pringles.
Coronel Pringles, Argentina. “In the Footsteps of Euskera. The Basque Language and its Presence in Argentina” was designed to travel from one city to another, comprised of 19 panels that are easily mounted. The exhibit summarizes the history of Euskera and above all its presence and diffusion in Argentina beginning with the Argentinan Euskaraz program – Euskara Munduan celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Aimed at the public at large, the Delegation of Euskadi in Argentina and Mercosur, in charge of the project, suggests that it can be presented outside of the confines of Basque clubs, in other halls and public places so that it reaches the largest number of people possible. That is what members of the Eusko Biltzar in Coronel Pringles did. They are currently hosting the exhibit at the local Cultural Center located on Jose Cabrera 459.
The exhibit will be open until Saturday when it will then travel to Macachin where it will be exhibited all week long during Semana Nacional Vasca.
Azul and Tres Arroyos
In Azul, sponsored by Gure Txokoa, the exhibit on the 25 years of the Argentinan Euskaraz program was displayed October 8-12 at the San Martin Cultural Complex. As club sources told EuskalKultura.com, “it was visited by many people who were greeted at the exhibit by members of Gure Txokoa.”
In the words of Silvia Iceta, Gure Txoko Secretary, “our work was to guide people through the exhibit and answer their questions. On October 12, on the “Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity,” and with the presence of other communities, there was an event to both inaugurate and close the exhibit. Basque teacher, Elisabet Etchegaray, trained in the Euskara Munduan program herself, and I gave the welcome and together we presented the exhibit to the community.”
Besides that, among other activities organized to celebrate the 25 years of the Argentinan Euskaraz program, the local dance group performed four Basque dances for the public and the film Aupa Etxebeste was shown. The Basque club would like to especially thank the Delegation, FEVA and the city for their collaboration in these activities.
From September 29-October 5, the exhibit was on display at the Hiru Erreka Basque club in Tres Arroyos. There it was complemented with audiovisual material and the club bar was also open during the exhibit hours.
