Buenos Aires, Argentina. Testimonies gathered over five years by María Cristina Juanena Beraza and Adela Soto Zudaire de Beriau comprise the book Basque Reminiscences that was published in May of this year in Uruguay by the Saltoko Euskaldunen Taldea Basque Club in Salto, Uruguay. The book seeks “an approach and valuation of the Basque heritage, fruit of a large migratory process in the second half of the 19th century and the beginnings of the 20th in the city of Salto.”
In the words of its compilers, “The book was created with the technical support of professors from the Department of Social Sciences at CENUR, from research, tales, interviews and letters from which we try to recover the historical memory of the community and its impact on the community.”
Basque Reminiscences will be presented on Friday, September 28th by its authors in Buenos Aires. Remember that María Cristina Juanena had served as president of the Basque club in Salto from 2010-2013 and that Adela Soto has continued in that position since 2015.
The event will begin at 18:30 in the Sebastian de Amorrortu Auditorium at the Laurak Bat Basque Club on Av. Belgrano 1144.
