Havana, Cuba. Aberri Eguna is every year the main celebration for the Basque community in Cuba. From Havana, Renato Garcia Egusquiza, president of the Basque-Navarrese Charities Association (AVNB), announced that this year they also organized a program in the days leading up to Aberri Eguna. The program includes talks, the “Basques in Cuba, Images that Show It” exhibit, as well as the possibility of the cancellation of a postage stamp dedicated to the Templete in Havana, “a building similar to the Batzar Etxea in Gernika.” All will conclude on Sunday with the celebration of Aberri Eguna.
Aberri Eguna has its own Commitee in Havana. "On Sunday the 21st there will be a cultural program with cocktails at the Worker’s Social Circle Felix Elmuza in the former El Nautico beginning at 11am. There local and visiting Basques will gather awaiting our friend, Basque singer Joseba Gotzon, and Ray Fernandez from Cuba.” “As always all Basques in the area are invited to attend,” Egusquiza added.
