Coronel Pringles, Argentina. With the premise that "the Basque Country was the cradle of thinkers whose concepts currently affect politics, the economy or language in the Basque Country", Professor Maximiliano Garaicochea will offer a monthly program on philosophy at the local Basque club. The program is a series of six talks/workshops “with an interactive approach rather than expository so, participants deepen the issue from another perspective from various readings.”
As Garaicochea told EuskalKultura.eus, “We must break the prejudice that philosophy is only Socrates or Kant. There are authors of Basque origin that are highly recognized, such as Unamuno or Savater, or other less “marketers,” such as Joxe Azurmendi or Xavier Zubiri who deserve to be studied for their validity. That is the proposal. “Break some molds,” and delve in to the thoughts of Basque philosophers.”
The series begins on Thursday, March 12th and will run through August. The authors to be studied are the following: Thursday March 12th, Florencio de Basualdúa; Thursday April 16th,, Miguel de Unamuno; Thurdsay, May 14th, Fernando Savater; Thursday, June 11th, Arturo Jaureche; Thursday, July 9th, Joxe Azurmendi; and Thursday August 13th, Xavier Zubiri. The events will begin at 7pm at the Basque club Hall, Mitre 250.
