Euskal Kantuen Ibilbide Luzea (The Long Journey of Basque Song) is a creation of producers and singers Victoria Roldan and Cristian Carrero, along with Basque teacher and cultural reference, Rosana Entizne, also from Bahia Blanca. The show is a review of Basque song and its history, and will be performed on stages at Basque clubs or institutions that request it. The requirements are minimal. Bahia Blanca, Argentina. The didactic concert that will be presented under the name EKIL - Euskal Kantuen Ibilbide Luzea (The Long Journey of Basque Song) is described by its creators as, “a different approach on the average musical." "Through varied musical illustrations, the spectator will share in a fascinating tour of Basque song, its history, its historic context, its composers and its curiosities. The show will also feature multimedia support and traditional costumes.”
In regards to the educational profile, it will be supported by Rosana Entizne, well-known euskaltzale in the Argentine Diaspora, and Basque music specialist. The teacher will be in charge of providing explanations in each part of the recital, accompanying the audience in this tour “full of emotion.” Along with Entizne, singers, Victoria Roldan (soprano) and Cristian Carrero (tenor) will be in charge of carrying out the repertoire that will include classical compositions by musicians like Francisco de Madina, Aita Donostia, Guridi or Usandizaga, reaching also contemporary songs and singers like Ez Dok Hamahiru or Urko.
Presentation of EKIL at Basque clubs
As explained to EuskalKultura.com by Lyric Soul Producciones, producers of the show, the concert is adaptable to different spaces and room sizes. Od course, if possible, they recommend a large space that includes a bare wall, or screen for the projections. Nevertheless, and to optimize the technical requirements, the production will send interested clubs and institutions a list of necessary equipment; if the institution has them they will use those, and if they don’t they will bring what is necessary along.
In regards to expenses, in the words of the producers, “The main idea is to include as many interested clubs as possible as part of their 2017 agenda." "That is why propose that money matters be discussed directly with the producers, and together we will find the best way to carry it out.”
Basque clubs, schools, or any other interested institution in hosting Euskal Kantuen Ibilbide Luzea in 2017, should get in touch with Lyric Soul as soon as possible to reserve a date, in order to facilitate the organization and have enough time to advertise, and ticket sales.
