Donostia-San Sebastian. Javier Bello Ruiz and Kepa Iturrioz Zabala are the creators of HitzApp, in collaboration with Silvio Amstrad-Wang and the Swiss company Wizzy Education Technologies SA, according to Sustatu.com.
According to its creators, HitzApp is an application that allows users to learn a 3,000 word vocabulary in Basque through games and fun exercises. Each word includes its translation and correct pronunciation and the system is based on a method of language learning developed by Silvio Amstad-Wang. In the words of those in charge, HitzApp is a useful tool to prepare for the Basque aptitude test, EGA, or college entrance exams, as well as to learn more about Basque and the Basque culture.
There are two versions, one for iPad and another for iPhone. The iPad version includes exercises such as: Flashcards, Snake, Blocks, Letter Soup, Change the Letter, Word Scrambles, One out of Four, Matching, and Lexicon. The iPhone version only includes Flashcards, One out of Four, Matching and Lexicon.
The only version currently available is that for Spanish speakers, however applications in English, French, and German will soon be made available as well.
