A soccer team from Liga MX and not an US Major League Soccer club will play at the Basque Soccer Friendly on July 29, as announced, yesterday, by the organizing committee. The MLS scheduled its annual All Star Game for the same night as the Jaialdi soccer match, “so we considered contacting Liga MX teams to have the highest quality game possible,” said to EuskalKultura.com Argia Beristain, spokesperson of the committee. The Basque Soccer Friendly organizing committee informed yesterday in the official website and via newsletter, that a Liga MX soccer team will be playing at this year’s Jaialdi, against a Basque team from the Spanish Liga BBVA. “We want to provide the highest quality game and the Liga MX teams are in the Top 50 teams in the world, that’s why we decided to contact them,” said Beristain to this website. About the Basque Soccer Friendly

The Basque Soccer Friendly LLC is a partnership between the Basque Studies Foundation and the Idaho Youth Soccer Association. Together they are working to bring this unique community event to Boise, Idaho and create greater awareness for both organizations. All proceeds from the Basque Soccer Friendly will go to the Basque Studies Foundation to support scholarships and Basque Studies programming at Boise State University and soccer scholarships for Idaho youth provided by the Idaho Youth Soccer Association.
