The land belongs to the Yacyreta – EBY binational entity who is giving the use to land to the Euskal Jatorri Basque Club under said agreement to build its clubhouse, and carry out its activities. The agreement was signed last Wednesday and so the Basque club will hold an official event next Tuesday where they will take symbolic possession of the land, holding its first board meeting there.
Posadas, Argentina. Last Wednesday, March 7th an aassignment was signed at the Yacyreta – EBY Binational Entity, who will be allowing the Euskal Jatorri to build its headquarters on its land. Those in charge of signing the agreement for the EBY, were its director, Enrique Dias Esmendi along with the Basque club’s president, Mariángeles Rosciani. Also attending the meeting were Roberto Aramendi, and Maria Silva Soloaga, the club’s treasurer and secretary respectively.
Soloaga shared her joy with EuskalKultura.com for having the opportunity that this provides the club. She also shared her concern for some setbacks that have prevented the club to participate in community activities. “We are very pleased with the signing of the assignment since Euskal Jatorri is now 17 years old, and has never had its own locale. This has limited us when planning activities. Now, thanks to the efforts and willingness of Enrique Diaz Esmendi and Roberto Aramendi, we have this wonderful opportunity.”
“We know that it is a huge step, although it is only the beginning because the reality is that now we do not have the resources to build. Fortunately, the EBY has also offered to collaborate with us in requesting funds to get started,” she said.
The land is located on the Posadas riverbank, in front of the Monument to the Falkland Islands. The Basque club will take casual possession of the lot on March 13th, gathering members and friends there.
2018 Activities
Good news continue, unfortunately accompanied by some not so good news. Soloaga told us that administrative issues have blocked funding for trips to participate in the Basque club meeting in Olavarria, at Aberri Eguna in Cañuelas and Buenos Aires Celebrates.
Nevertheless, the board is not giving up and is preparing a program of activities that will include novelties. Among these, they have also announced a big San Juan celebration in June that will begin raising money to build the new clubhouse.
