The Guillermo Larregui Basque Club in Chacabuco, in the province of Buenos Aires will be the site today of an unusual activity for the club. The club happily accepted the invitation to be the venue for official acts to swear in local authorities who will assume their positions after the elections that took place all over the country on October 27th.

Last August, writer and bertsolari Uxue Alberdi (Elgoibar, 1984) and Scottish poet, Ciara MacLaverty, performed Throwing Voices along with Gaelic Harpist, Rachel Newton. The proposal aims to demonstrate and present, through music poetry, the richness of minority languages. The Durangoko Azoka,that opened its doors yesterday will provide the opportunity to enjoy this joint Basque-Gaelic work.

Necochea and the facilities of the local Euzko Etxea Basque club will welcome the 2nd International Women’s Pelota Tournament, featuring Women’s Pelota Goma Trinquet beginning tomorrow through Sunday. Admission to the sessions is free, and will include pelotaris from Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Spain and France, according to the organizers.
