The Basque chef from Rosario, Itziar Aguirre, will teach a workshop in her town as part of the “Argentina Plan Against Hunger”

Itziar Aguirre taught a workshop during the “Food Card” presentation The workshop was part of the distribution day of the “Food Card,” aimed at the most vulnerable, benefitting some 30 thousand people (and will reach some 60 thousand children).  With a degree in nutrition and with a 25-year long career in local gastronomy, the well-known Basque-Argentine Chef, Itziar Aguirre was invited by the city’s Social Economy Department.

The Jon Bilbao Chair at the University Of Nevada, Reno supports research on topics related to the Basque Diaspora The position provides a month-long research stay at the University of Nevada, Reno between August and December 2020, sponsored by the Etxepare Basque Institute and the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). The Jon Bilbao Visiting Research Fellow 2020 hopes to support research projects on the Basque Diaspora.  The deadline to apply is March 3rd.

Rugby players from the Collège Marracq in Baiona at the Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea Fifty rugby players from the Collège Marracq in Bayonne toured Argentina visiting the Argentine capital, as well as various places in the provinces of Buenos Aires and Santa Fe.  During their stay in the city of Buenos Aires, the delegation visited the Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea where they were welcomed by members of the Sub-commission of Culture. The “Poetry International” portal publishes a chapter of the book of poems “17 Seconds,” by Kirmen Uribe in English

Basque writer and poet, Kirmen Uribe (Ondarroa, 1970) The “Poetry International,” portal that includes works in English by various international poets has published a chapter “Espetxeko haikuak,” translated as “Jailhouse haikus” from the last book by Kirmen Uribe.  The work tells the experiences of a man imprisoned for being rebellious, as the daily Naiz characterizes it in an article that we are reproducing here.

Eusko Alkartasuna Basque Club in Sao Paulo reelected Pilar Alava as its president; Basque classes will initiate its 2020 program

60th anniversary of the San Pablo Basque Club The General Assembly of the Eusko Alkartasuna Basque Club in Sao Paulo reelected Pilar Alava as its president for the 2020-2024 term on January 26th. Alava told Euskalkultura.eus that she will continue to support the objectives and current lines of action, that is “keeping our roots alive and making our customs, folklore, language, gastronomy…known to more people here in Brazil.”
