The local Euskal Etxea has made it a habit and opening its doors to other institutions is its way of life. This time, it has done so to teach basic notions of the Basque language to preschool children and kids from the first cycle of public primary school. On Saturday, February 29th, the Eusko Etxea in the Venezuelan capital city held its General Assembly to elect its new board of directors. During the meeting, club members read the minutes from the last assembly, presented the report and account of the outgoing board of directors, and made disclosed the club’s finances to the members.

On Saturday, February 29th, the city of Comodoro Rivadavia in Chubut, in Argentine Patagonia held festivities to celebrate the 500 years since the first circumnavigation of the globe by Magellan and Elcano. The gastronomy and culture of Basque cider is enjoying growing interest in japan where they are also beginning to make their own cider. During the traditional season of txotx, some 15 restaurants in various areas of the country, have organized their own beginning to the season and are doing so with a load of cider from Astigarraga, allowing them to taste the sagardoa from the newly bottled harvest.
