The Beti Aurrera Basque Club in Chivilcoy celebrates 37 years on the feast of San Fermin and will celebrate all week long online and on social media The Basque club in Chivilcoy is among the many that have had to celebrate its anniversary virtually due to the Coronavirus.  The cancellation of the event leaves a large void in the club’s annual program of activities, but not in the hearts of its members and friends, who have the opportunity to accompany Beti Aurrera as usual by following their publications on social media.

Basque Festival 2020 in St. Pierre et Miquelon, August 10-16th taking all precautions necessary and being more local than ever

Saint Pierre et Miquelon delegates at a NABO meeting, with Michel Goïcoéchéa talking to the audience (photo EuskalKultura.eus) Having to adapt to the health crisis, but finally after a time of uncertainty, the Basque Festival in Saint Pierre et Miquelon will take place.  The event will be August 10-16, strictly following the stipulations set by health authorities, social distancing, wearing masks and using hand sanitizer that will be made available all over the festival grounds.

Cañuelas, Argentina: the Denak Bat Basque Club will publish a book this week about its 60th anniversary (see video)

60th anniversary logo The Euskal Etxea in Cañuelas, in the province of Buenos Aires, and part of the metropolitan area of bigger Buenos Aires City celebrated its 60th birthday on July 2nd and plans to celebrate it by publishing a newsletter on its social media that tells the story of the club mentioning this year’s activities as well, those that have already been held and those that are upcoming.

FEVA held the first digital meeting of Basque clubs and federations in Central and South America

1st virtual meeting of Basque clubs and federations in Central and South America Virtual meetings that have been used to solve urgencies in the context of quarantine, have become a new tool for the Basque community generating new meeting spaces.  Just ten days ago, Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu gathered with representatives of Basque clubs around the world to find out how everyone is doing during the pandemic and to relay a message of support.

Among the works presented was a song by Gotzon Merlo with a video performing his version of “Aita-semeak” by Oskorri. Ongi, Gotzon!
