Taking precautions against the Coronavirus, the Berlin Euskal Etxea also held a face-to-face event in April commemorating the Bombing of Gernika Following the saying “the best way to celebrate Basque Diaspora Day is to continue working and moving forward,” the Berlin association Gernika Deutsch-Baskischer Kulturverein e.V –Berlin Euskal Etxea let us know that it will celebrate the third edition of Basque Diaspora Day by presenting and launching its new website in a presentation that will include its upcoming projects and events.

The Itxaropen Basque Club’s facilities in Saladillo have been designated as an “isolation space,” for members of the security forces Since the beginning of the pandemic last March, the Itxaropen Basque Club in Saladillo has offered itself and has put its clubhouse at the disposition of authorities in the fight against COVID-19. The London Euskal Etxea announces the beginning of its Euskera classes on September 28th at the Cervantes Institute

Basque classes return to London Classes are part of the Euskara Munduan Program managed by the Etxepare Basque Institute and will take place at the Cervantes Institute in the capital city.  According to enrollment the traditional three levels of classes will open, that is Beginners on Mondays, Intermediates on Tuesdays and Advance students on Wednesdays. Researchers find a text in Basque published in 1842 in Montevideo, the oldest in the American press

Alberto Irigoyen and Xabier Irujo present the oldest text found in the American press to date

Researchers Alberto Irigoyen and Xabier Irujo, specialists in the Basque Diaspora, announced today the oldest text found to date in an American press.  It is a notice signed by the political and police chief of Montevideo José Antuña published on September 4, 1842, 178 years ago.  Until now, another text published in 1843 also in Montevideo, had that distinction.  Both researchers explain their find in the following article.
