The Juan de Garay Foundation is preparing a Virtual Basque Book Fair in December and invites all Basque clubs

Foundation Juan de Garay stand at the Buenos Aires Book Fair (archive photo) This year, due to the pandemic, the 46th edition of the Buenos Aires Book Fair has been cancelled. The Madrid Euskal Etxea holds a Photo Contest to fill its 2021 calendar; submission deadline is October 23rd

Photo contest organized by the Euskal Etxea in Madrid The invitation is aimed at Euskal Etxea members; you can also become a member to participate.  The contest’s main goal is to select 12 photos that will make up next year’s calendar.  The theme of the photos is “Basque” and can be taken anywhere “although special attention will be given to those portraying Basques in Madrid,” the club specified.

Tuesday’s version of EuskalKultura.eus Some readers have reached out to us to let us know that they were having trouble receiving the bulletin.  The renewal of the content on the website is being carried out normally, but is seems that in some cases, the bulletin was not being received.  After alerting technicians of the problem, they confirmed the possibility of errors after several changes and a migration that took place in August.  ...

Mari Cruz Díez Lazcano (Elorrio, 1917) celebrated her 103rd birthday on September 14th (thanks, Jazoera) Great celebration last Monday, September 14th, the 103rd birthday of Mari Cruz Diez Lazcano, originally from the Basque Country but Venezuelan resident for most of her life.  Born in 1917, in Elorrio (Bizkaia) daughter of Felipe Diez and Maria Fernanda Lazcano, she lived the civil war and the bombings of Durango.  She lived in Donostia where she married Vicente Alberro Echeverria from Bermeo, and two ...

Lauburu Publishers in Argentina launch the “Hirusta Bilduma,” collection with two titles by Sergio Recarte and Castillo Salaverry

First books in the Hirusta Bilduma by Lauburu Publishers Led by Nicolas Chaves, the Lauburu Publishers have just published two new books, the first of the new collection “Hirusta Bilduma.”  The works are by Ernesto Castillo Salaverry from Nicaragua, and Sergio Recarte from Argentina, Latin American writers with Basque roots.
